“When an artist paints en plein air she is working outside. She directly observes the subject and finishes the painting on location. En plein air painting has its own particular challenges. The greatest is to catch the effects of constantly changing natural light on the subject. I must execute quickly to capture the moment and the result if spontaneous and emotional, with only secondary attention to detail.”
